My little dog got hold of a ballpoint pen,and uesd it as a chew toy.
I have ink stains on my carpet. Can I get them out? Thanks

only because of the alcohol content. Rubbing alcohol might work better.

Amyl Acetate or nail varnish remover has a goood chance too - either this or
the above is likely to work.

not true, i've been in these situations many many times, and i can tell you
from experience, that aerosol hair spray works better than just plan rubbing
alcohol.

My book of tips says methylated spirits for ballpoint ink. Hairspray is a
very good tip but I suspect it has to be the type containing alcohol.

a book of tips is one thing, a lot of experience using it it another. i
clean carpets full time for a living.
