I can't seem to get the mildew off our shower door and chalked areas.
Looking for ideas.

Mildew should be taken care of with a solution of 50% chlorine bleach and
water. If it is really bad, you can spray the area, apply paper towels
(like wallpaper) and spray again. Let that sit for several hours and then
scrub. You can treat the mineral build-up with a product like CLR -
something with phosphoric acid designed to removed mineral build-up. For
soap scum, try using a Scotchbright pad or similar plastic scrubber with
some mild cleanser like Bon Ami.

Try a hot stem cleaner. I think Wal Mart or Target have the Scunci brand.

I put the kibbosh on mildew by spraying the shower after every use with
hydrogen peroxide. Simply get a quart bottle of the stuff (I get mine at
Walgreen's) and attach a sprayer top from another bottle of something (they
all seem to fit). Spray after every shower and voila! No more mildew...
I keep another bottle of this in the kitchen to spray cutting boards,
counters, etc. Works like a charm....

Mold and mildew, scum, and mineral deposits can be avoided by wiping shower after each use with chamois or squeegie. Improving ventilation into the shower area by leaving shower door or curtain open will also minimize problems with mold and mildew. The bleach/water solution should effectively kill the mold and mildew. Mildew stained caulk will have to be cut out and replaced. Running bathroom vent/fan for at least 20 minutes after bathing will remove excess humidity from bathroom. Spraying mildew prone areas with disinfectant will keep it at bay. Mildew spores are everywhere in the air. When they find a damp, soiled, poorly ventilated surface they tend to settle in.
