Consumer Reports has once again published a new article rating laundry detergents.
Once again, Tide dominated the top rankins with Tide w/ bleach being the top-rated laundry detergent.
Of interest is the fact that there seems to be a trend toward generic brand products purchased at retail stores such as Wal-Mart. Some popular brands were also exluded from their tests.
The top 10 results:
1.. Tide w/ Bleach (Powder)
2.. Tide Cold Water (Powder)
3.. Tide HE (Liquid)
4.. Kirkland Signature Ultra HE (Costco, liquid)
5.. Tide w/ Touch of Downy (Powder)
6.. Tide w/ Bleach Alternative (Liquid)
7.. Ultra Plus w/ Oxi-Clean HE (Sears, powder)
8.. All Stainlifters HE (Liquid)
9.. Tide Cold Water (Liquid)
10.. Great Value Ultra Mountain Fresh (Wal-Mart, Liquid)
Gain which is one of the top selling detergents came in at 14.

I can't see any of the most popular brands. How can this be? Persil? Ariel?
Daz? Bold? Something is obviously amiss.

response: This list doesn't look right to me either. Cheer is better
than Tide and it's not even listed.

Cheer hasn't faired well in their tests for a while.
One Cheer product (Dark Formula) ranked 12th.
Check the October 2005 issue of Consumer Reports for a complete list.
