View Full Version : when a mother exausts all her ways of
dejablues

yes, the same issues keep coming up. when a mother exausts all her
ways of
handling the situation, and needs to find more ways that will not
physically
or emotionally damage the child. This is the one place I thought would
be
the right place.
I have mothering issues. They are very messy and long reaching. No I
will
not discuss them with the group, except to say that I was abused. I am
not
real sure what normal really is. I have never really seen a normal
child
develope. I left my parents house when my younger sister was still a
kid.
My parents were different from other parents. My friends parents were
about
half my parents' ages. So some of the things my friends did my parents
were
too old to do.
No I don't post much. I don't post until I feel that I am just not
doing
something right and cannot find the specific thing that have everything
out
of whack. I am sorry that some people in this group feel that I am
doing
this just to get a reaction. I spank, yes. I do not apologize for
that or
feel I am in the wrong in any way for doing so. I call my daughter
stubborn, because she is. My husband and I are both very stubborn
people
she can't help but to be stubborn. I know that it will serve her very
well
as she gets older, but at the moment it is very frustrating.
For those who still think I am a troll I will give an example of what I
thought was a normal reaction to have until a friend showed me where I
was
wrong. I was over at my friend and neighbor's house and her children
were
sitting in the living room eating cereal with milk. Her son started
blowing
bubbles in his milk. I immediately told him to stop. My mom had never
allowed me to blow bubbles in my milk. I thought is was a bad manners
thing, or something like that for her. My friend asked me if the kids
were
hurting themselves or anyone else by doing that? I had to answer no,
and on
thinking about realized that my mom was wrong in her reaction to
things. So
I have many many examples of things like that. That is not what I
consider
the abuse. My *mom* is the woman who adopted me.
When I originally subed to this group I had hoped to get to know other
mothers in the group. I never did figure out exactly what type of
messeges
to write. I posted a hello messege, and then a question. The question
got
responses, but when I put up a funny one or some thing like that it was
ignored, like I was an outsider looking in. I then decided to stick
with
questions. Figuring that the group really didn't want to hear about my
daily life. It seemed like most of you worked outside the home any
way. I
could not relate to that. I hope that some of you will not just write
me
off because I have a thick skull and sometimes things need to be
chiseled a
couple of times on my brain before it stays.

I've never thought you were a troll. I have no problem with people
spanking their kids, although I'm lucky enough not to need to with my
two (so far....) I come from a fairly abusive background, but I try to
stay conscious of what I'm doing and why with the kids, but I'm nowhere
near as patient as I should be. And I'm more or less a stay at home
mom, although my computer is at my husband's work, so I have only a
chance to read and post once or twice a day. Anyway, suffice it to
say, that I've never had a problem with you or your posts. Alt.mothers
is more of a chatty group where the people seem to connect more on a
personal level, if you want a recommendation... (Although I've had some
spats with people there, and I'm the kind of person who really doesn't
WANT to rock the boat, but I tend to inspire people that way sometimes
anyway.)
