There are certain things to keep in mind when buying home office furniture. Consider how you want your personal workspace to be laid out and the requirements of your personal work style. Do you want a desk with a lot of storage space or a table and perhaps an accompanying cabinet piece? Do you need a special piece for computer or copying equipment? Will bookcases be required? What kind of desk chair do you like or what is best for your back? Spend some time thinking about these factors instead of hastily buying pieces that you later find you can't use or don't enjoy.
Although your office is your business space you don't want to exclude the members of your family, especially at the end of the day or on weekends. Creating a quiet reading room or a place where children or other family members can join you while they study will help to keep the office "part of the family." There's nothing wrong with having a television in a home office as long as all the members of the family understand that you are the final word on when the set can be turned on and off.
