A good tip on getting rid of aphids, that just LOVE your roses, without the use of chemicals is to get a yellow plastic lid off of a jar (or paint it yellow if you have to) and fill it with water and a few drops of dish soap. Aphids are attracted to the color yellow and will prefer the lid to your flowers. When they crawl into the lid, the dishsoap will "keep" them there and they will die.

Another good way to get rid of aphids is with ladybugs. Ladybugs will eat aphids. Now if we could just train the ladybugs to land on our roses instead of piling up in the corners and widowsills of our homes. LOL

You can just buy them, too. 1500 for 10 bucks or so.

Of course, importing those damn bugs is the reason that the northern part of the Midwest (as well as several other parts of the country) is overrun with those freaking japanese beetles that look like ladybugs. I hate those little bastards!
