Rule for painting half-vaulted ceiling

We have a larger room on the back of the house with a large vaulted
ceiling. I need to know the rule on painting the ceiling. Should it be
the same, lighter or darker than the walls?

I didn't think that there was a rule. We just painted our vaulted ceiling
the same colour as the walls.

I didn't think that there was a rule. We just painted our vaulted ceiling
