View Full Version : Painting foyer - ceiling lightblue - how far down the walls?

Hello
I hope this is the right group.
We have a corridor that is 2.85 meter high.
We want to paint the ceiling very light sky-blue, and we want to let
this color go down on the walls - some part.
The lower parts of the walls will be dark sand-color.
Now the big question - what are the golden rules of where to make the
line?
Above the doors, 2/3 up from the floor (and thus break the line
defined by the dorrs?
Any ideas?
Best regards
JJ

How about stopping at the 'standard' chair rail height? A universal and
classic look.
Doing it to the top of the doors I think wouldn't look right, not enough of
the blue that you've chosen. You want to see both colors, it seems to me
that you want that blue to be the main color and the sand color to be more
or less the accent in the foyer Having the colors meet about 2.5 - 3 ft
from the floor will allow that affect.

Hello Dave
Interesting idea.
My worry is that this would focus the viewer downwards to the floor?
But interesting idea.
