You could try adding some vinegar to the wash water to neutralize the odor.
I don't think you should use perfumed detergents or softener because the
cats don't like the scent and may repee on the bedding. So try to use the
unscented brands.

Or just keep the bedroom door closed.

I have used two different product. One is called Kennel Odor Eliminator
(KOE). The manufacturer site is http://www.thornell.com/pages/koe.html
although it can be bought through several pet supply sites. The other
product is PureAyre at http://www.pureayre.com/frameset_main.html which is
also the manufacturers site.
Check to see if any of the urine got down to the mattress in which case you
will need to pour some on that too.
Good luck, cat pee is intense stuff. In order to avoid this in the future
try to figure out why he did it....or he may do it again. :(

Store the cat in a gallon-size zip-lock bag, in the freezer; and wash the
bedding. Add some Nature's Miracle to the wash water. If the urine reached the
mattress, spray the area with Nature's Miracle, turn the mattress over and
draw out the solution with a wet vac.
Turn the mattress over and let it dry. Once everything is free of odor, remove
the cat from the freezer--and from the zip-lock bag, if you so desire.
FYI, the Kennel Odor Eliminater that BonnieJean mentioned is a superior
product, but I think Nature's Miracle will work better here, and it's
available at PetsMart, etc.
Michael
Whatever it takes.

Hi Tom,
You will need a specialist urine treatment. If you find the ones suggested
hard to get then take a look at the link below, we have some specific odour
removers, including urine, on the site.

I do hope someone has already suggested you pour copious amounts of
Nature's Miracles all over the bed. I actually saved a couch from
ruins. Read the directions. I promise there is no smell on the couch
now but it did take time to work. Just read the directions on the
bottle. Pricey but effective.
