Help: Dog puke on jute rug

[Al Cunniff]

For some reason our dog navigated toward our 100% jute rug
when she got sick to her stomach tonight. I'd appreciate
your advice on cleaning up the stain this left, because
I've heard that jute and liquids don't get along.

I'm open to any ideas. Thanks in advance!

I don't have an answer. I was thinking about getting a dog (I never
had one) and now I've changed my mind!

Jute doesn't really mind getting wet, but it doesn't like *staying* wet.
You don't describe the rug in detail, but I would suggest using a mild
vinegar solution, using 3 parts water to 1 part white vinegar. Blot
thoroughly after cleaning, then use a hair dryer to facilitate quick
drying.

You can also stuff a towel or two under the area while you clean it with the
below mentioned solution. This way there won't be a puddle of liquid.
And Phish, pets (dog's in particular) are so great. Certainly worth the
occasional vomit or other accident. Think about getting a rescue...most are
already housebroken.

Thanks for the suggestions--I'll check back here today to see
if there are more.

In answer to one poster's question, I checked the rug's
label and it says it's a Capel rug, made in India of 100%
jute. It's woven jute with a dark green fabric trim.

Actually, my wife cleaned a previous incident with Chem-Dry
stain extinguisher, and though it did remove the stain,
it also lightened the area that it cleaned, on the jute
as well as the green trim.

With respect to the dog, the +real+ story is that we're
minding a friend's dog while the friend is away. This dog
has some, shall we say, behavior issues, and this was one
of a few incidents.

Needless to say, our dog is a a perfect angel and respects
jute ;).

In answer to another poster's question, I haven't the faintest
idea what jute is!

oh you have not :-)

dogs & vomit have traditionally had a close relationship - notable because
if there's good stuff in there they eat it straight up again :-| (causing a
minimum of distress to one's jute rugs).

my doggie is such a clean freak he doesn't even like pooing in his own yard
(thus giving me continual low-grade anxiety about not having enough plastic
bags when we are out, handily offset by my increased health & life
expectancy due to having him in the first place). and he never vomits
inside, although he's always first on the scene if someone else does ;-)
