What's the best way to remove soot from glass votive candle holders, or from
porcelain (potpourri burner)?

Full strength household ammonia cleans glass and porcelain well. Oven
cleaner will work better--this should be done outdoors, avoid skin
contact and breathing fumes.

Hi Fussy
Plain ole vinegar will remove most soot, even from the inside glass of
franklin stove fireplaces.
If it's real stubborn, a 15 degree baume solution of hydrochloric acid
will get the rest.
This does NOT work in baking ovens or for grease smoke on glass, such
as BBQ grills. For that you need to go to a BASE formula rather than
an ACIDIC formula.
