Whilst having our flat roof re-roofed, the molten tar ran through between
roofing timbers and side boarding, its set in streaks down the lace
curtains, on lace table cloths and splashed on the wallpaper.
Any ideas on removal. Lace is white.

Forget about removing it. If you had a contractor do the roof job, get an
estimate of the damage and ask him to pay. You should be entitled to new
curtains and table cloths. The wallpaper should be removed and replaced.
If you can't match the paper (it has been discontinued) the cost to repaper
the entire room needs to be determined.

If you did the work yourself, then you should plan on picking up the cost of
replacing the damaged goods and wallpaper.
