Any suggestions on how to clean car mats on which gasoline was
spilled?
These have a rubber backing to the carpet.

Leave the mats in full sun for 4-5 days. Most of the lighter carbons
will evaporate or break down. Wet the mats on a concrete slab,
sprinkle on a laundry powder, add a cup of rubbing alcohol over the
mat, massage for several minutes with the fingertips, rinse thoroughly
with a hose, drip dry in the sun. For a more powerful wash use TSP
instead of the laundry soap and use rubber gloves or a shampoo carpet
machine to avoid skin contact.
Air it out real well for a week or so. Leave the windows open at
night. Been there done that. It will go away. Make sur eyou ventilate
well when you drive it, th3ese fumes aren't exactly healthy.
