What color would go well with brown furniture?

I am considering repainting my living room. My couch is a dark brown leather couch, and I am not sure what color would go well with it. I was thinking maybe a dark green?

I have found 2 colors that look especially nice with dark brown furniture: lighter greens--think sage greens--& taupes. We have some dark brown in our living room including a leather chair and an antique leather trunk. They go extremely well with our lighter sage green sofa. In our own researching, we decided on a taupe shade for our living room walls. This color takes on a hue of whatever is near it. By itself, it looks like a grayish tan. But, next to our sage green sofa, it takes on a green tint, too. I also love the light greens and taupes because they are so soft and calming and relaxing--a nice atmosphere for a living room!
