Packing Artwork & Mirrors
Framed Prints: * Wrap each print individually in newsprint, then tape cardboard around them. You can also wrap in bubble wrap. * Put them in shallow close-fitting boxes. Take up and space with crumpled or wadded newsprint. * Attach an Inventory Sheet and mark it. Mirrors: * Tape a large letter "X" across the front of the mirror to prevent mirror pieces loosening if it breaks. * Wrap in blank newsprint surrounded by cardboard or in bubble wrap, well taped. * Put them in shallow close-fitting boxes. Take up and space with crumpled or wadded newsprint. * Attach an Inventory Sheet and mark it "Fragile". Original paintings: * If framed with glass, tape a large letter "X" across the front of the glass. * Cover the framed painting or canvas with bubble wrap and seal with tape. * Purchase or make a box slightly larger than the painting. If you're packing just the canvas, wrap the cardboard box in bubble wrap, then tape it and place it into a second, larger box. Such double-boxing protects against sharp objects puncturing the box and canvas during a move. * Tape the box well, attach an Inventory Sheet and mark it "Fragile" Sculptures: * Find a box at least one-third larger than the size of your sculpture. * Bubble wrap the sculpture * Fill one-third of the box with polystyrene foam peanuts or suchlike. * Place the sculpture upright in the box, then fill around the sides and top with the peanuts. The sculpture should be in the center, not touching the sides of the box. * Tape the box well, attach an Inventory Sheet and mark it "Fragile" |
