Packing Materials
1) Boxes/Cartons: Boxes are top of the list of required materials. Here are some things to keep in mind: * Boxes taken from food stores may contain insects. You don't want to transport a whole nest of cockroach eggs to set up home in your new house. * Choose appropriate boxes for the items intended, e.g. a solid bottomed box is suitable for heavy items. Another rule of thumb to remember: the heavier the item, the smaller the carton. 2) Tape: * Get a good wide roll of strong tape to seal your boxes. Cover the worst scenario of your boxes falling off the trailer or being dropped. Packing tape or gummed tape is better than masking tape. 3) Padding: * Newspaper is great for padding, but ink may come off onto clothing, drapes, lamp shades etc. * Toilet paper is great for smaller items * Pillows, cushions can be stuffed in with fragile items such as TVs and stereos |
