If you heat your home with a pellet , wood, gas or corn stove you may notice your allegies act up and it becomes VERY dusty! One thing that I have found works good is putting a kettle on the stove and let it steam into the air. I have noticed a big difference myself.

Winter weather not only means snow, it also means dry air. Chapped lips, itchy skin and frequent nose bleeds are a good indication that the air in your home or apartment is too dry. The correct moisture level in your home will alleviate these symptoms and will make your home feel warmer too.
Purchase a humidity gauge. This simple tool measure the moisture in the air. Comfort levels are individual, but I find that once it starts to drop below 40, my lips are chapping, and below 30 it becomes pronounced with itchy skin and nose bleeds. This easiest method to alleviate dry air is to purchase a humidifier. From furnace-mounted to free standing, there is a wide variety to fit any budget. The humidifier pictured easily accommodates 1100 square feet. Keep a teakettle or pot of water simmering on the stove. Once you have brought the water to a boil, reduce the heat and allow the water to simmer. This will add moisture to the room. Instead of always using the clothes dryer, use a clothes rack and allow your clothes to air dry indoors. This is also a good method to test the humidity level in your home or apartment. If the clothes dry in a few short hours, your air is dry. If it takes all day, you're sitting pretty. If you have radiator heat, place a pots of water on the radiators throughout your home. This accomplishes the same task as step 3. If you prefer, you can place wet towels on the radiators instead. _________________________ dvd duplication Illinois resume |
